I took in the Farmers Market at its new Sat. location this past weekend. I have to say change is not always good. Not only can you barely walk through, its congested and crowded. It will be interesting when the big trucks of veggies and corn are there. City Hall was a far superior venue. Oh I know, historical depot and everything – sounded good in theory but to many others I have talked with – not a good change. Also we were promptly told that we could not have our dog (a small Westie) with us, that if we wanted to shop my husband and I would either have to split up as in “remove your dog” or they would take him away for us to another area. Are you kidding? We have always walked our dog to the Farmers Market! We actually were told that we had to treat it as a grocery store. Its not a grocery store! Funny how we are able to purchase peoples baked goods from their unregulated, non commercial kitchens but we can no longer walk our dog to the Market. This person that approached us basically waited until I removed myself from the area with my dog. I doubt I will visit regularly like I used to, it used to be part of our Saturday routine, now the atmosphere and shopping experience is less that enjoyable.

We’re sorry, too, that dogs are not allowed at the Farmers Market. Our customers and their pets have always been a welcome sight at the Market. We have tried to make arrangements at the Depot for our Saturday Market to accommodate our animal friends. So, we hope you don’t give up on us. We’re doing our best to make the Market a welcoming place.
We are bound by State of Minnesota Regulations, so we must follow up if we are to stay in business.
